What is an autologous transplant? What allogeneic?

An autologous transplant is performed with the individual's own cells obtained from bone marrow or peripheral blood, and if we talk about umbilical cord blood (UCB) that is performed with the patient's own cord blood.

An allogeneic transplant is done with cells from a donor family (related) or unfamiliar (unrelated), obtained from bone, blood or the SCU.
